In Nordic mythology, Mjöllnir is Thor's short-handed hammer, the god of lightning and thunder. If the handle was forged too short it was because during its forge the loki god Loki turned into a fly and distracted the dwarf who forged the hammer. Thor's hammer is the most powerful weapon of the gods, and symbolizes the protection of the universe against the forces of chaos
