Jesus and Mary are two of the most important characters in the Bible. Jesus was born of Mary, a virgin, and was crucified by the Romans. Mary is often referred to as the Mother of God. After the death of Jesus, Mary would have appeared to his disciples. It is also said that she was assumed into heaven. Catholics believe that Mary is the intercessor between God and humanity. Many miracles are attributed to her and she is venerated as a saint. Protestants do not generally believe in the worship of saints, but some believe that Mary was a sinless woman who was blessed by God.
