Luis Suarez is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a striker for Spanish club Barcelona and for the Uruguay national team. A controversial figure in the sport, he is often praised for his exceptional skills and goalscoring record, but he has also been criticized for his use of aggressive tactics on the pitch. Born in Salto, Uruguay, Suarez began his career with local club Nacional in 2003. He transferred to Dutch club Groningen in 2006, before signing for Liverpool two years later. During his time at Liverpool, Suarez established himself as one of the Premier League's finest strikers, winning the League Cup in 2012 and being named PFA Player of the Year and Footballer of the Year. FWA in 2014. After four successful seasons at Anfield, he moved to Barcelona in a deal worth £75m (€94m).
